NAWIC NATIONAL CONFERENCE 2019
On November the 15th the London and South East Region of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) were our director Cristina has been Chair since 2013 , co-hosted the National Conference for the Association with RICS who provided the venue in Parliament Square.
The event aimed at supporting RICS' diversity strategy, an idea proposed by Rosemary Silver, committee member and and RICS Fellow. Cristina, who is part of RIBA's EDI Advisory Group, Architect For Change, and understands how the group is challenging historical preconceptions at RIBA, was keen to support Rosemary from the very initial stages.
The conference was attended by circa 200 people and delivered 6 workshops and 3 plenary discussions as well as key note speeches and updates from key NAWIC members.
The plenary discussions were recorded with the intention of bringing the discussions as far afield as possible in order to help companies and individuals start a conversation in their own environment.
Below there is a link to the panel chaired by Cristina under the title "The Value of Diversity Driven Networks".
Details on all speakers (as well as ideas of actions which can be taken to make our industry more reflective of the communities we build for) can be found in the conference booklet which was another one of Cristina's responsibilities for the event.
