"London is full of hidden gems which are rapidly disappearing under the pressure of profit making large housing schemes in prime locations. This is one of those endangered spaces .

A former dairy deport, transformed by the vision of two private collectors, and the skill of their architect, into a temporary arts centre.

The project, set in a complex assemblage of existing spaces (buildings and yards), plays with its geography to configure a series of spaces which are cleverly connected to both its context and former existence.

Due to its ephemeral nature, budget priorities have shaped the design decisions. A very common occurrence in the industry , used as justification for less than perfect solutions, here generated a very different outcome thanks to the architect’s vision.

The result is a lesson on the intelligent application of the “less is more” philosophy that is well worth visiting.
