WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2017
Today is World Environment Day 2017 and to celebrate it atelier EURA's Director Cristina has joined her peers at NAWIC LDN to volunteer with the Friends of City Gardens, a group working within the City of London in projects which are aimed at encouraging biodiversity and improving the air quality of the area as part of the Mayor's Air Quality Fund.
First they planted a pop-up garden which is part of the Farringdon's Crossrail Project. Designed by Studio Xmpl , a Landscaping studio who has found a niche in non permanent contexts , it incorporates the repurposing of materials such as those used in the construction of the new station, within the overall design.
The second project has required some dense planting within the historical cattle troughs of West Smithfields which have been in the area since the second half of the 19th century.
It has been a wonderful experience and we are very glad to have been part of it.
