JACK AND BOULE
Last night, just before they closed, I managed to visit the Jack & Boule park in the Southbank and congratulate my clients in person for their opening.
Having been on site at 8am I was very impressed with how the team had managed to bring all the final touches together on time for their first evening of corporate events.
It has been an epic build. We had a design and a strategy in place a month or so in advance but, the truth is that there were unknowns because the site was only fully vacated on time for the build to commence on the 30th of May.
The client chose to work with PANKHURST CONTRACTING LIMITED (the team we have worked with in the Southbank summer pop ups, under the Hungerford Bridge, since 2016) and it was good they did because their groundworks experience became invaluable and their commitment to quality was present throughout the build.
I am very aware that many designers and architects feel that their design should not be questioned but followed, however, I am not one of them. I prefer giving serious consideration to the ideas that contractors come up with on site because there is value in having access to a different perspective when your goal is to deliver your client's vision for their business.
I also want to give a shout out to Elle Rankin and her team at made of möre who designed the branding and were a pleasure to collaborate with. I found that they did an excellent job at guiding the Jack and Boule founders throughout the process, making their discussions a true collaborative endeavour.
And, of course, a very special shout out to Richard Willing Alec Feakes and Oliver Rudge the co-founders of Jack & Boule whose remarkable hands on deck approach has added a very special charm to the space. Not only they have managed to weather a very intense time with positivity, but they have quite literally shaped the space.
All the above reflect why I enjoy working with business owners and using design to support their endeavours and success. Also, why I then tend become a customer! (only last night I was back at La Gamba London and i have already planned a couple of games of boules.)
Ok so if you made it this far and are wondering how to book a game for a corporate outing, a party with your friends or a family celebration have a look here: https://www.jackandboule.com/
