Is the era of the “lone ” designer over? We suspect it may be.
Last week at @londonbuildexpo, our director Cristina @burutapen explored this exact idea while moderating “The Guest-Centred Approach” panel. She was joined by industry experts Marco Ginex ( David Collins Studio) Eleni Meladaki (ACME), Tim Bowder-Ridger (Conran and Partners) and James Dilley (Jestico + Whiles) to dismantle old myths and look at the future of hospitality.
4 Key Takeaways:
Belonging vs. Escape: The best spaces don't choose one. They offer tourists an escape while giving locals a place "to belong".
Real Flexibility: Future-proofing isn't an abstract concept, it has to work in day-to-day operations, not just on plans.
Community Value: To build on the uniqueness of the places we visit, we should stop replacing local culture and start adding value to it. Storytelling is the strategic tool that bridges that gap.
High Tech: AI and data are powerful, but they should enhance the human connection by removing friction, never replacing the emotional core of hospitality.
Cristina left the stage energised and reassured that Atelier Eura are in the right path: the future lies in balancing efficiency with emotion.
Many thanks to the panelists and Carlie Hedmann from London Build for the opportunity!
